1600Pro

DDR Memory Buffer

DDR memory buffer is the main difference between ASI “Cool” and “Pro” cameras.

ASI1600 Pro camera includes a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to help improve data transfer reliability. Additionally, the use of a memory buffer minimizes amp-glow, which is caused by the slow transfer speeds when the camera is used with a USB 2.0 port.

DDR3

Astrophotography Performance

ASI1600 Pro offers very good performance for astrophotography. Low read noise, Low dark current, high dynamic range .

ASI1600 build in 12bit ADC but can provide 12.5 stops dynamic range which is even better than KAF8300 due to its super low read noise.

  1. :

    Hi,

May I know if there is any bayer matrix on the sensor?

I would like to do H Alpha narrowband imaging, is this camera capable of that?

    Cheers,
    Guohui

    • Sam Wen

      :

this is mono version, no bayer matrix
very suitable for narrow banding imaging

  2. :

what sensor did you use in the asi1600mm cooled cameras

    • Sam Wen

      :

it is the same on Olympus’s DSLM: E-M1

  3. :

Is there a filter wheel for this?

    • Sam Wen

      :

      under development
we will take our EFW to NEAF2016

  4. :

Will this camera bin 2×2 images before analogue to digital conversion?

    • Sam Wen

      :

the sensor provide 2x hardware bin, but I think it’s binning after digital conversion
      and 10bit only
so software binning is a good option if you don’t need faster fps such like meteor capturing

  5. :

    1) ASCOM drivers are essential for any serious application. Will they be provided?.
    2) Can you readout a subsection of the chip for focussing or other purposes?
    2) 3.8 µm Pixesize is too small for deepsky applications, so good2x2 binning is essential.

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, we provide ASCOM driver and fast ROI readout speed to help focus and planetary imaging
      software bin2 bin3 bin4 is supported

  6. :

    Hi Sam,

what is the max. QE of the monochrome version of ASI1600? Please specify.

Is there a specification of the absolute sensivity threshold in terms of number of photons per pixel so that signal=noise?

    Cheers,
    Juergen

    • Sam Wen

      :

we are not sure about the max QE, maybe around 60%
there is no absolute sensitivity threshold

  7. :

    Hi Sam
Who is the manufacturer of the Mono sensor in the 1600mm?
    Regards
    Tony

    • :

      Hi Tony
      It’s from panasonic.

  8. :

What is the size of the sensor? Width X Hight?

    • :

      Hi Dan
      It’s 4/3” ,17mm×13mm.

  9. :

    Hi Sam,
How do you think can I use this camera for meteor capturing.
Does the driver of this camera support the UFOCapture?
    Thanks.

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, you can use it for meteor capturing with binning mode
UFOCapture has problem with our camera before
I am not sure how is it now
      but Handyavi runs very good

  10. :

Hi Sam – I have a Celestron RASA (like Hyperstar). I would like to get mono version. Do you know what options there are for using filters with this camera?

    • Sam Wen

      :

I think the filter wheel may too big for such usage
maybe use filters inside the adapter is the only way

  11. :

    Hi
    Is the cooled camera sealed?
If yes, how is it with the dessicant? Is it replaceable/renewable?
    Thanks!

    • Sam Wen

      :

Yes, it’s sealed and replaceable dessicant
you can have a look at our other cooled cameras description

  12. :

what currency are your prices and what will be the cost of the asi 1600 mono cooled in Australian currency. I have a pre-order up elsewhere but willing to ditch for a better price and if you have stock/pre-order to hold for me. thank you.

    • :

      Hi Robet
All the cameras we sell is US dollars.
We accept pre-order now, cameras can be shippend in May.
We offer special price for our 1600 till the end of May, 100 US dollars off retail price.

  13. :

    Hi Sam

what imaging capture software does AS1600 supports ? Does this support Nebulosity and MaxIm DL ?

    thanks

    nathan

  14. :

Hi, how does this unit power the cooling system?

  15. :

    Hello

Could you tell me how sensitive is this camera compared with DSLR cameras such as Canon 6D (modified for AP)
    Thank you

    • Sam Wen

      :

mono sensor is usually 3 times more sensitive than a color sensor
so don’t compare with a mono one with color one please;)

  16. :

I have seen a couple questions about the sensor. The Olympus OMD E-M1 uses a Panasonic sensor. There is additional sensor data here http://sensorgen.info/OlympusOM-D-E-M1.html

  17. :

Sam, a beta tester on Cloudy Nights reported AMP Glow concerns and an apparent fix you supplied, can you explain the issue and what impact does this have on production release?

    • Sam Wen

      :

the amp-glow issue is not so serious actually
they are not very obvious if you exposure less than 5 minutes which should be enough for most targets
you can check the 300s dark frame in the product description

  18. :

    Hi!
    Maxim DL V5 support 1600?

  19. (verified owner):

I ordered the 1600MM-Cool however it’s on backorder:1. Does that mean that we are one camera behind in back order right now? If that’s the case, what is the turnaround time for a single unit?

    • Sam Wen

      :

we already sent orders put before May
for new orders, we will try to send all in this month

  20. :

I plan do 10 minute exposures, can you provide a 600 sec dark frame? How bad is the amp glow at 600 sec and 1000 sec?

    Thanks

  21. :

    Hi Sam,

I have two questions regarding the power supply for cooling:
    1. What is the plug size at the camera and its polarity?

    2. Cooling power supply is specified for 12V / 2Amp.
    What is its voltage tolerance?
Can we operate it directly at a lead battery with its up to 14.1 V output voltage?

    Another question on amp glow:
There are serious concerns about amplifier glow at long exposure time (> 900sec.). Do you have or plan any measures against it ?

    May thanks for your help.
    Juergen

    • Sam Wen

      :

      it’s 5.5*2.1 or 5.5*2.5 and center passitive
      the voltage can accept 9-15V

About amp-glow for over 900s exposure, I am not sure we can get rid of it
      but we will try

  22. :

    Sam,

I ordered the 1600MM Cool back on April 20th through High Point Scientific. It seems that those that ordered direct are receiving their cameras now, even if they just ordered. Are your dealers going to receive their cameras soon?

    • Sam Wen

      :

you will get it soon, we will send some to HPS this week

  23. :

My retailer (Bintel) is telling me that their pre-order shipment was delayed by a week due to “issues with the camera”. Now is this just retailer speak for supply chain delays or are there really things that you are fixing in the camera? I am also disappointed that direct orders seem to get filled but those that went though retailers are forced to wait.

    • Sam Wen

      :

our retailer already got some of their orders
we are just too busy to send all orders in time

  24. :

What is the typical full-frame unbinned image download time via USB3 to a computer with SSD storage? Are the advertised frame rates achievable in practice?

    • Sam Wen

      :

that depends on the speed of SSD
very good SSD can keep up to 400M/s write speed
which means you can record the data at 23fps

  25. :

I want to remove back pilot lamp, but is there the good method?
Or is there the method not to let you turn on?

A source of light is in trouble because I use it in HyperStar.

    • Sam Wen

      :

I think you just need to use blank tape to cover the LED hole
or open the back panel to cover the LED directly

this LED is indicator or external power supply
so there is no way to turn it off if you connected the external power

  26. (verified owner):

Hello, if the peltier cooling is not used, the external power is needed? for example planetary ?.

    A greeting.

    • Sam Wen

      :

      no, USB power is enough

  27. (verified owner):

Are these cameras being delivered yet ? or still being made ?.almost been a month since my order + i have to wait a extra 2/3 weeks for delivery (a long wait for a already released *preorder*!!!)

so basically it’s a batch sell scheme once june comes will it be a $1180 (+$100 us) pre order ever month after may?

after may no discount because product is in less of abundance or more of an abundance from it’s current state ?

is the discount because we have to wait 5-7 weeks to actually get the product ?

i canceled a pre order from retail store to save little bit but now i’m regretting it.

    • Sam Wen

      :

we are producing and delivering, but production cannot meet demand
so we deliver follow the order time
we suppose we will have enough before end of this month

  28. :

Hello, what size of filter.wheel is needed for the mono model ? is 1.25″ ok or 2″ is required ? thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

that depends on your scope and the EFW you use
if you choose our EFW or MFW, 1.25″ filter can support focal ratio higher than F5

  29. (verified owner):

Hello, I now see that the contents of the box t2 does not carry the adapter female / female 11mm happened with this adapter? I have everything ready for this measure and the order of this camera made from May 4. a greeting.

    • Sam Wen

      :

it has been already mounted to the camera body

  30. :

Sam, can you give me some idea of the spectrum bandpass of the AR glass? Thanks

  31. :

What is the model number of the chip? Is it produced by Pnasonic?

    • Sam Wen

      :

      yes, it’s from Panasonic

  32. (verified owner):

Hello, orders of May 4, have already sent?

    A greeting.

    • Sam Wen

      :

we will send your order this week

  33. :

    Hi Sam,

Orders from May 27th (Highpoint Scientific), do you have an estimate when the cameras will be shipping?

    Thanks!

    • :

      Hi Samara
HPS will get some 1600-c at the end of this month.
So, I think probably you will get your camera soon.

  34. :

Thank you Vanessa, mine is a 1600mm. Looking forward! Have a great day!

  35. :

    I have a WO Star 71 and a GSO 8RC, F5 and F8 systems respectively.

Are 1.25” filters going to cause any visible vignetting on my Star 71? What are the opportunities for 2×2 binning for use with the 8RC ?

    • Sam Wen

      :

no visible vignetting short to F5 if you use our EFW
you can use 2×2 binning for your RC8

  36. :

    Hi,

    a) can you ship yo Indonesia (no local agents here)

    b) if I provide a DHL account cn yoh use that for the shipping ?

    Cheers
    Andrew

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, we can, just contact us through email

  37. :

    Hi Sam,

is it possible to record the sensor temperature for each frame? This would be helpful for additional calibrations.

    Thanks & Regards
    Andreas

    • Sam Wen

      :

the temperature is in the FIT header

  38. :

    Hello
Which software would work the best for image capturing focusing and stacking?

    Thank you

    • Sam Wen

      :

for planetary imaging, you can use sharpcap or Firecapture
for DSO imaging, you can use MDL, SGP, The SKy X
      for stacking, AS!2 and DSS

  39. :

I just took first light with my ASI 1600 mm and a solar (Ha) telescope. I was wondering how can I cool the camera using Firecapture. I am only able to cool the camera using SGP. Is there any other way? I didn’t see anything on the ZWO driver.

    • Sam Wen

      :

please make sure you use the latest version of Firecapture
and click “more” button in the camera controls
then you can see how to control the temperature
but I don’t think you need to cool it when do soloar ha imaging

  40. :

Thanks for the answer to my previous question, Sam. I have another one. Do you have any idea when you will be releasing the Filter Wheel+OAG package? Also, how many filter positions will that FW have?

    • Sam Wen

      :

we will release our first EFWmini at end of this month
it has 5*1.25″ or 5*31mm holes

  41. :

Sam there are rumours of a new version of the ASi1600 that will have a USB hub in place of the guide port, can you comment on this? Is it there to support the new filter wheel? WIll ZWO be updating all the cameras already sold without one? Lots of questions about that.

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, the new version is just for better cable management
we can do the upgrade for older customer but it need some extra cost
you can contact us through mail if you need such upgrade service

  42. :

For the newer version of the asi1600 and mini filter wheel, is there an adapter for EOS /nikon also? Would be great if so!

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, there is adapter for EOS
you can use Nikon to EOS adapter for Nikon lens

  43. :

When will the new hub version of the asi1600mc cool with auto fw and eos adapter be out?

    • Sam Wen

      :

      we will upload soon
      they are ready
we are just waiting for our new RGBL filters which provide 1:1:1 color balance with our 1600

  44. :

Just 1 final question – Will I need 36mm filter for F3 refractor? Or is the 1.25″ workable with flats etc? Thanks.

    • Sam Wen

      :

31mm filter would have no vignetting
      so 36mm if big enough

  45. :

Hi, just received the 1600MM cool. 2 issues:

1)The LED light does not come on, and no cooling is effected when activated (USB2 port only on my laptop on Win 7 Pro and ascom 6.2). Also, the driver version is listed as a 2014 version although i installed the latest off the ZWO website here. Is there a fault somewhere in the cooling system? How about the driver? I do see the ASI1600MM Cool listed as an imaging device, and the camera does produce images.

    2) The EFW – how do I control this? The proprietary ZWO has no EFW control. Do i have to use a third party ascom software? I use APT, but I am not sure if this camera is supported. The cooling also cannot be efffected through APT.

    Please revert. Thanks.

    • Sam Wen

      :

you need extra 12V DC power to power the cooler and fan
for the EFW, you just need to install the ASCOM driver from our website

  46. :

    Hi One of ZWO!
(Remark: “ZWO” stands in german dialect for “2”, so this is a word-joke).
If I have the 12V-Power for Cooling connected –
is the Camera-Part still powered over USB or out of the 12V-Power?
Meaning: If I use a 3.0-USB-Hub wothout Powersupply,
then there is too less Power for the Camera and an external HDD.
    Greetings from Austria, Fritz.

    • Sam Wen

      :

the camera-part still powered from USB

  47. :

    Hi, I have few questions:

    1. Previous version of ASI 1600MM (mono) that sells now for $990 does it have active cooling? can it be set to -10C?

    2. I plan to image simultaneously from 3 scopes, can I ran all 3 cameras on one computer (does your software/drivers support this kind of operation) or do I need 3 separate computers in this case?

    3. What size filters should be used for this camera, is filter wheel available? If no, can the camera accept FWs from other manufacturers?

    • Sam Wen

      :

1.only cooled camera has regulated cooler, so 1600MM don’t have it
2.yes, you can run 3 cameras on one computer
3.there is EFWmini, you just need 1.25″ filter for F5 and slower scope, 31mm filters can support up to F2 lens

  48. :

    Hello!
I wanted to update the firmware on my ASI1600MMC,
but the FWupdate.exe finds no camera (empty).
Yes, VS2008 SP1 redistributable package is installed.
    I can’t find a file named ASI1600MMC.iic.
To with of the cams is it compatible?
In the zip-File are some inside,
but I don’t know with one to choose.
    Greetings from Austria, Fritz.

    • Sam Wen

      :

there is no new firmware of 1600 camera
      you don’t need to upgrade

  49. :

I was told in the forums that you were developing a new filter wheel and Off Axis Guider for the 1600. Is this true? If so, is there any idea on a release date? Any specs available?

    Thanks,
    Will

    • Sam Wen

      :

      yes, 7*36mm and 8*1.25or31mm EFW
      and OAG
      won’t be too far

  50. :

    Hello!
Yesterday may Cam was working properly.
Today it shows “0 frames (0 dropped) in ~time~ at 0,0 fps”
and no picture is seen, only black.
I can change settings and it reports the temperature,
so a connection is established and all seems to be okay.
But no pics are coming. I tried different PCs and two programs.
What can I do to reset it? Or is it broken?
    Greetings from Austria, Fritz.

    • Sam Wen

      :

did you try to adjust “Trube USB” lower?
      or try a small ROI

  51. :

According to the treat before, 0.0 fps – issue:
Yes, I tried a lot of things.
    Two different USB-cables (3.0 and 2.0),
    different USB-Speed-Settings, Auto and manual,
two different PCs, two different programs,
over ASCOM, and the “higer compatibility mode” in APT.
Nothing changed, all as before, then from one day to another 0,0 fps.
I think I send it back to service.

    Hi Sam,

    (1) Is it possible to capture images in real time using Labview or Matlab?
    (2) Is there a trigger output signal?
    Thanks!

    • Sam Wen

      :

you need to visit the camera through Directshow under Labview or Matlab
or need to program yourself through our SDK
there is no trigger output signal

Hi, is 300s dark frame linked to in the product description bias subtracted? There nothing in the FITS header to indicate that it has been but it’s not much use for measuring the dark current unless it has.

    • Sam Wen

      :

      no bias, just dark frame
you can check our specification for the dark current

  54. :

Hi, you didn’t include any dark current information in the specifications (or description) tab on this webpage, but looking in the manual I see there is a graph there. I assume the dark current (in e/pix/s) isn’t effected by the gain setting?

    • Sam Wen

      :

you are correct, the dark current won’t affected by gain setting

  55. :

    Good morning.
I recently bought the CCD ASI 1600Mono Cooled and I am facing a problem that worries me.
At the beginning of the shooting sessions, using MaximDL to control the camera, I set it normally at -20 degrees. I wait for the temperature to reach the point -20 and start shooting, but in the first images, condensation is already present on the inside of the camera, on the sensor.
It is important to remember that always at the end of the session I use Warm-Up so that there is no thermal shock, but I’m having several sessions ruined by this problem. What can I do to prevent this?
Is there something I’m doing wrong?
Can it be defective in the sealing of the camera?
    Awaiting return

      :

we replied in your email, did you get it?

  56. :

Today, I experienced a strange problem with my newly purchased ASI1600MM-C. I was taking a 360S dark frame and cooler was set at -15C and was running at 99% power. The ambient temperature was about 31C. I noticed that that cooler was struggling to keep the sensor temperature at around -14.5C and suddenly cooling stopped and sensor temperature start to rise rapidly. But sequence generator pro continued to show that cooler is running at 100%. Then I turned the cooler power off, disconnected the camera from computer and reconnected it after about a minute. Then cooling worked again. I want to know whether this is a inbuilt hardware level safety mechanism to prevent too much overloading of the cooler or a fault in cooler. I am quite worried whether I am going to loose my new camera. Please respond.

    Thank you.

    • Sam Wen

      :

can you check your DC power supply? can it provide enough power?
I suggest you set the target temperature to -10 instead of -15 to reach the max delta temperature it can achieve

  57. :

Thanks Mr. Sam Wen for the reply. The power supply was the one I used to power my satellite TV receiver which can supply only up to 2A. That is all I have at the moment. (I have already ordered a good quality 5A power supply which is on the way and will take another 1 – 2 weeks to arrive). I noticed another thing. When that cooling failure happens the power indicator LED on the camera started to blink rapidly. Anyway this problem only occurs when cooler power rises above 95% and I also now think it should be due to inadequate amperage of the power supply. However, still I am happy that the cooling unit performs even better than you have promised. That means it can keep the sensor temperature little more than 45 degrees lower than the ambient temperature.

    • Sam Wen

      :

you are correct the power supply is not enough if the LED blink
some DC power adapter declare that can provide 2A but usually can only provide 1.5 or 1.8A
anyway, you just need 0.5A to cool to 30 degree below ambient and 1A to 38 or 40 degree
so just avoid to cool so deep

  58. :

Can you tell me the max current @ 5V from the USB connector is required to power the camera? What’s available from the cameras USB 3.0 hub to power external devices such as guide camera and EFW?

    • Sam Wen

      :

the power of USB3.0 is 1A, the camera itself need around 400ma, so there is around 600ma to power guide camera and EFW

  59. :

I’m thinking of buying either a 1600MM-Cool to replace my faulty CCD camera. I currently use an ASI120MM (USB2) guide camera. I know the 120MM has problems with most USB hubs but will it work with those built into the 1600?

  60. :

    Hi Sam
I am using ASI1600MM-Cool and APT for capturing. You have mentioned here above that 2×2 hardware bin is available. How do I choose between hardware and software bin in APT? Furthermore, does this also mean that the rest of the binning options, 3×3 and 4×4, are all software bins only?
Another thing is, I realized on your charts that using the camera at lowest readout option, gain 200, the full well capacity is only about 2000e. How does 2×2 hardware binning would effect the sensors full well capacity?

    • Sam Wen

      :

software binning is the best way for DSO imaging
so there is no option to set hardware binning in APT

if you use software binning, the full well become 8000e
      but hardware binning won’t

I have the original (first) version of this camera and the sensor fogs up almost every time I use it. I replaced the desiccant to no avail. I see the new version addresses the moisture issue by redirecting some of the heat to the sensor, along with a desiccant plug and USB power ports. Do you plan to offer these upgrades to this first version of the camera? I would be happy to send it in and pay a reasonable amount for these enhancements.

  62. :

Regarding the protect window. Do you offer a replacement part for that which is the AR-AR 32mm diameter 2mm thick BK7 glass?

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, you can contact us if you need such glass

  63. :

    Hello Sam,
    I have two questions.

    1.
In this camera manual(1600mm-cool), I cannot find the quantum efficiency below 400nm.
what is the quantum efficiency at CaIIK&H(393.3nm and 396.8nm)?
Is it possible to observe the object at CaIIH&K?

    2.
cooling power consumption is mentioned as 12V at 2A Max.
In this site, there is 12V 5A DC Adapter.
Is it no problem if I use 1600mm-cool with 12V 5A DC Adapter?

    Thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

393 and 396 is very close to 400, so their response are very close too
the max power consumption is 2A, so you just need one DC adapter larger than 2A

  64. :

    Hello Sam,
What do you think which cooled mono ASI would be the best choose for a DSO “Lucky Imaging”? 174, 178, 290, 1600? I’d like to shoot planetary nebulas, galaxies, and any small targets. My aim is doing RGB and narrowband imaging with my 8″ F4 Newtonian.

    Thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

      of course 1600
      you need one large sensor

  65. :

I recently purchased this 1600MM-C camera. The USB hub isn’t connecting to the EFW. I’ve tried using the 2.0 cord to the 1600 and still nothing. The only way the EFW works is if I plug it directly into my laptop’s 2.0 USB. I’ve read a couple of posts from people with similar problems and tried installing the driver you sent them. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

    • Sam Wen

      :

usually this is because host USB controller driver is old
you can try to upgrade your host side driver

  66. :

    Hello Sam

I have problem with my 1600 mono cooled. Its very annoying. I use the camera with SharpCap (newest Version 3.0.3956.0). When I make pictures from bright object and stack them afterwards (ex. from the moon or sun) I always have a grid/checkerboard in all images, the grid is also visible a bit in the live preview. I know that you released a modified asicamera2.dll for SharpCap that should resolve that problem. But not with my camera. I tried the option “Pattern Adjust” in Sharp Cap with setting 0-4 but it doesn’t help. Pattern Setting 1-4 makes it wors instead of better. Any idea? The camera is not usable with that grid that is always and in any picture, I can not do postprocessing with these images as the grid is everywhere. I can send you example pictures if you tell me where I can send them. thank you very much. Andreas

  67. :

    Hello Sam,
When I am giong to use the ASI1600 camera with a lower resolution setting, for example 640×480 for planetary imaging. The captured video will be a crop from the middle area of the sensor, or a resize from the highest resolution to the setted one?

    Thanks,

    • Sean Wang

      :

it will crop from the middle of sensor, you can move the area on the sensor.
resize is just happen to bin mode.

  68. :

Please advise if the camera’s come in a pouch? Seen some with sleeve…

    • Sean Wang

      :

If the camera is recently producted, will come with a pouch.

  69. (verified owner):

Hi, is there stock for this camera now?

    A greeting.

    • Sean Wang

      :

      Yes, it is avaliable.

  70. :

    Hi

I plan to buy the 1600 kit with the EFW 8 positions. Can you tel me if, in addition to the EFW, the camera hub will, at the same time, connect to a camera made by another manufacturer as well (not just another ZWO ASI camera)?

    • Sean Wang

      :

      Yes, of course.

    Hello Sam,

I got two scopes now and using a SBIG STF8300 on one of my tubes. I am thinking of ASI1600 mono but two questions: 1- Is it’s filters parfocal? 2- what is camers QE percent in gain 0 (I want to compair it to my STF)?

    • Sam Wen

      :

the thickness of our filter is the same, so they are supposed to be parfocal
but it depends on optics actually
about QE, it’s about %60 which should be very close to 8300

  73. :

    Dear Sam

the asi1600’s 6.5mm draft include the extension of the optical pull (0.66mm) to the presence of the camera’s protective filter (thickness 2mm) ?

    Thank you
    Gerard

    • Sam Wen

      :

      6.5mm is optical distance
so yes, it include the filter

  74. :

Hi Sam, is it possible to take dark frame with this camera? Thanks, Andrea

    • Sean Wang

      :

Yes, of course. dark frame can be taken.

  75. :

Hi, we have seen on Facebook new 1600MM pro version. Is it possibile to order now from your distributor? Time to ship new version?

    • Sam Wen

      :

The new version’s price is $100 more than the old one
we are going to release at this month

  76. :

Hi, I was just going to make my order of the ASI1600 MMC an I’ve seen you are now out of stock. When do you think you’ll have more units?
    Thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

we are going to release 1600 Pro soon

  77. :

According to the link previously posted (http://sensorgen.info/OlympusOM-D-E-M1.html) the QE is not around 60% but 45%, right? Will be used the same sensor in the new release too? Thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

mono sensor is more sensitive than color
this is what we got from factory

  78. :

    Hi sam

I have 1.25″ mini Electronic Filter Wheel and 1.25” LRGB filter set. (use for ASI290MM)

    I can use for ASI1600MM ?
Will it be a vignette problem?

    Thank for ask

    • Sam Wen

      :

      yes, you can
there is no vignetting problem till F5

  79. (verified owner):

Hi Sam, just received my ASI 1600 Pro last week. One question: From time to time the image download hangs in APT. Yesterday I had a sequence of 100 frames that worked, then only 4 then only 26. USB 3 cable is connected directly to the computer. Drivers are the latest from your site. Is there anything I can do to avoid this like changing the USB speed in the driver? I haven’t seen this setting however …
    Best Frank

    • Sam Wen

      :

      Hi Frank
as the Pro version build in DDR buffer, so you don’t need to adjust the speed
did you use our latest ASCOM driver? is there any log?
maybe you can try to change another cable and try again
you can contact me through email to get a more fast response

I am interested in buying the 1600mm-c Pro camera but had a few questions :
    1) Do I need to buy the anti-dew heater strip for it : https://astronomy-imaging-camera.com/products/accessories/anti-dew-heater/

    2) Will there be any Vignetting for a f/5.25 system using 31mm filters?
