Product Description
ASI071MC Pro
Camera Sensor
▶IMX071
- Most famous sensor of Sony
- APS-C(1.8″) Diagonal 28.4mm
- 16M Pixel (4944×3284)
- Very low read noise: 2.3e @24db gain 3.3e @lowest gain
- 14Bit ADC: provide real 14bit Dynamic range
- Electronic shutter: no vibration problem with mechanical shutter
DDR Memory Buffer
ASI071MC Pro camera includes a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to help improve data transfer reliability. Additionally, the use of a memory buffer minimizes amp-glow, which is caused by the slow transfer speeds when the camera is used with a USB 2.0 port.
DDR memory buffer is the main difference between ASI “Cool” and “Pro” cameras.
Astrophotography Performance
ASI071MC Pro offers very good performance for astrophotography. Low read noise, high dynamic range.
Dark Current
the Dark Current of ASI071MC Pro is better controlled than before with the help of DDR buffer and new improvment of hardware design
Please check this 300s dark frame free of amp-glow:Here
QE Curve
We suppose the QE peak value is more than 50%.

Unique Tilt Adapter
ASI071 Pro includes unique tilt adapter. Say goodbye to tilt problems forever !
USB 3.0 Port & USB2.0 HUB
USB 3.0 Port: Provide 5Gb bandwidth to make it possible for ASI071MC Pro to run at 10 fps (14bit, normal mode) at full resolution(16Mega).
New mechnical design and Anti-Dew Heater
The ASI071MC-PRO camera comes with a completely upgraded anti-dew and mechanical body.
The diameter of the camera body is incresed to 86mm (ASI071MC-Cool is 78mm).
▶6 screws seal the chamber
This new structure seal the CMOS chamber better.
▶anti-dew and cooling system
ASI071MC Pro has a two-stage TEC cooling system that allows deep cooling (35°C-40°C below ambient). You will need an external power supply to power the cooler. An AC-DC power adapter is not included in this package, however you can order one from here.
The anti-dew heater will heat the AR protect window to avoid any dew problems. The heat anti-dew heater power is around 3.6W and can be turn off in software to save power.

I did not mean the larger one. I see that the Pro package has 3 adapters/extension tubes –
A. 21 mm
B. 16.5mm and
C. M42 to M48 adapter of unspecified length. I want to know this last smaller adapter’s optical path.

Sean Wang – :
M42-m48 adapter is only a thread adapter, won’t interfere optical path length.

Hemant Kulkarni – :
How much length does the M42-M48 adapter add in the optical path?

Hi Sean,
Hub have ability supply current enough from independent power supply.
But, even if Hub have no other devices, the camera capture will fail with an exposure time of 2 seconds or more.
So, I bought today some new Hubs and cables and tested various combinations in I found a combination that works properly.
It’s just a thinking,
I think the problem is USB power delivery sequence.
The camera seems to be a different sequence when the exposure time is long and when it is short. At this time, when the exposure time was long, the condition of power supply of the USB changed, and when the camera tried to capture it thought that the current would be insufficient and fail. But I do not know why it happens with a combination of hub and cable.
Thanks for your help.

Sam Wen – :
The Hub can draw power about 700ma from 12V power supply
so please pay attention to the power consumption of devices attach to the hub

Hello,
I bought ASI071MC Pro but I have a problem.
Although there is no problem with the included USB cable, capture will fail with an exposure time of 2 seconds or more when shooting with other USB cable or USB hub. It is seems that there is no response from the camera.
Is this a normal thing?
My notebook coumputer need a USB hub in case of shooting , auto guiding , telescope control and other system.
Thanks.

Sean Wang – :
Hi Tera
Does your Hub have independent power supply? Our camera need enough amps if the Hub without power supply. If many equipments use the Hub, camera won’t got enough power.

Hi Sam,
I got my asi071 after a long waiting time of three month and I’m very impressed. The camera has really very poor noise and great colours of pictures end-results. Currently I can’t find any weak. Great camera! Thanks for making it.

Hi Sam,
Any way to get a batch of 071 mono sensors for some mono ASI071 Pro’s? The well depth and dynamic is amazing!

Sean Wang – :
Hi James
We didn’t plan to do that, it’s not a stable version for users.

Hi! I have a quick question about focus when using camera lenses… I tried the T2 adapters sold by ZWO for all three brands — Canon, Nikon and Sony — and was not able to reach focus on any of them. Is there another adapter or spacer required for the ASI071MC Pro to reach focus on camera lenses?
0
0
Sam Wen – :
The SONY adapter won’t work with 071
but Nikon and Canon lens must can, you need to adjust the focus position of your lens

Erklue – :
Hi,
I have problems with the temperature sensor of my new ASI071MC Pro (I received it on 5.12.).
The first week, everything worked fine (e.g. making fotos @ T=-20°C), taking darkf frames… everything perfect. .
But since 16.12. the following happens:
1.) I set a target (desired) temperature of <10 °C.
2.) Cooling starts and the temperature goes down constantly (that's great).
3.) When reaching T<10 °C, the temperature readout suddenly jumps to a number between T=70-110 °C!
At the same time, the cooler power goes up to 100% and then stays constantly at 100%!
4.) After 30 minutes, the temperature still shows the same temperature (e.g. 105 °C) and cooling power is still 100%.
There is something wrong with the temperature sensor ?!
Best regards

Hello just got my asi071 pro had to reinstall ascom driver as was not working. I notice that the offset slider bar is gone when using ad
Scom based sofware is this OK. Or I’m a missing something, the gain slider is there.
Thanks
Otherwise camera works fantastic..

Sam Wen – :
because you don’t need the offset and usb bandwidth any more with the “Pro” version
the offset is always fixed at one reasonable value

Hi, is the darkframe on the web-site really 300s long ? Because I see no hotpixel or noice.
0
0
Sam Wen – :
yes, that’s 300s dark
the noise is so low and you need to stretch the image very hard to see the noise
