Is it possible to use with eleminating IR cut filter?
Actually I like to use without IR cut filter. When eliminating protective window(IR cut filter), is there any countermeasure to replace protective window?

    Hi Sam,

I want to get into AP, and am tossing between ASI120MC-S and ASI224MC as the first beginner’s camera. The 224 has a much better SNR. But it is a bit too expensive to put on a shelf if AP does not start as a hobby for me.

Can you say how much the 224 is better for planetary, lunar, and maybe a bit of DSO work. For example, “The 224 provides 120% of fun of the 120”. Say, if difference between them is 50%, then 224 is worth to buy. If 224 is better only by 20%, then it is not worth to prefer. I have a 90 mm aperture refractor with 900 focal length on Go To mount. Thank you for your attention.

224 has lower read noies and the frame rate is more than twice faster than that of 120, and you could also consider the price.

    Hello,

With my ASI120MC-S installed on a SkyMax 102/1300 (f 12.7) I can get images from the Moon and also terrestrial images, but I get nothing (blank screen) when trying to observe the planets.
For example, I tried to get images from Jupiter (by using the default settings for it within ASICap).
The image through the eyepiece was ok, but through camera it was no possible to see something. I also tried for the full range of the focusing for the telescope and there is no change.

Do you have any suggestion for such an issue, please?

    Thank you in advance.

Does the guide function of the ASI120MC-S (color) with your software or PHD support the Orion Atlas EQ-G mount?

ASI cameras support most of the mount, if it does not, you may need to change the pin sequence.

I’m looking to be able to extend the utility of this camera beyond planetary work to DSO imaging, An upper limit of 1000 s of integration seems more than sufficient for the aquisition of repeated images to be stacked. Have users reported good DSO results? Also, do the 2″ adapter and chip housing provide sufficient diameter for minimal vignetting in wider field images?

      Hi Steve
This camera is design for planetary imaging and guiding. I think you need to consider another DSO camera, when you want to start DSO imaging.
