ASI120 camera integrates AR0130CS 1/3″ sensor (4.8 mm x 3.6 mm). This camera has 1280 x 960 pixels. The pixel size is 3.75 μm x 3.75 μm.  This camera provides 12bit ADC.

    I have no problem with using this cam as a guider but I wanted to use it as a planetary imager with my telescope, it is unclear how to remove the lens AND the CS adapter such that I can use the 1.25 adapter. The lens screws out easily leaving behind the CS adapter which seems quite stuck (don’t want to force anything with the chip exposed). Any advice? Appreciate any help with this.

    I need to add a 0.5x focal reducer to the ZWO ASI120mm camera.
    This is to reduce the focal length of my solar imaging setup (420mm F6 refractor at 70mm objective diameter; Quark chromosphere=4.2 barlow). Total F=6×4.2=25.2.

    A 0.5x reducer e.g. https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p676_TS-Optics-Optics-TSRED051-Focal-reducer-0-5x—1-25-inch-filter-thread.html
    may do the job.

    I screw this into the adaptor for the zwo camera and insert this into the Quark eyepiece. But the resukt is not giving the correct reduction. I just get a blurred image.
    What is the correct adaptor for the 0.5 x reducer to fit the ZWO?

    Hi trying to understand this new hobby, Will this camera with the ZWO OAG and my F4 / 800mm Quattro have enough fov for guiding in Sharpcap for Polar Alignment , It says need A field of view in the camera of between 0.5 degrees and about 2.5 degree. Thanks Eddie

      No it will not.
      We recommend you use focal length under 400mm.

    I’m using Linux and on the web site, under Support, you write:

    “- Our ASI120MM/MC camera is not compatible very well with Linux.
    – USB3.0 cameras is recommended for Linux users and fully compatible with USB2.0 host.”

    So can you tell me if ASI120MC-S or ASI120MM-S USB 3.0 cameras are instead compatible with Linux (Ubuntu 16.04)?

    The FITS files generated by the ASICAP (latest) android app with the ASI120MM-S are not being recognised by ‘FITS Liberator V3.0’ and ‘GIMP 2.8.22’. Please help. The ASICAP app has been installed in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal memory) running Android version 7.0 NRD90M and the MIUI Stable 9.0.3.0 (NCFMIEI).

    We have 12-bit ZWO ASI120MM-S USB3.0 Monochrome camera.
    We want to automate the camera in Labview and collect images in 12 bit (to be converted to 16 bit in Labview environment). As we have only Mono 8 pixel format option available in NI-MAX as shown in the picture below, we are not able to collect images in 12 bit in Labview. How can we collect images in 12 bit in Labview? Or is there any other software that you would recommend for automated image capture?

    I am assuming the M42 will allow it to screw directly onto the guider without nose piece, allowing for a back focus of less than 8mm.
