I have a William Optics GT81 with a 0.8x reducer mounted on an Orion Sirius EQ-G. Which kit would be suitable to my setup?

Following on from the above recommendation. I am struggling to get proper focus on my images. My scope is Celestron EdgeHD 8″ with 0.7x FR and i am using ZWO ASI1600MM-C with 8-Position FW (31mm astronomik filters). The backfocus i have achieve is 105mm (after the reducer) which i have done so by the following:

    Celestron EdgeHD T-adapter = 78.3mm
    ZWO FW = 20mm
    ZWO ASI1600 = 6.5mm

As you can see i am at 104.8mm which is +/-0.5mm recommended but i am told that i need to factor in the filter thickness too? thanks

It will be ok, the distance can not prefectly match unless you DIY a suitable adapter.

    Hello!
I would like to know the back-focus distance of the ASI1600MM Cool + EFW8 (with 31mm filters) + the ZWO OAG. So I guess the distance from the front of the OAG threads to the sensor face. I’m placing an order for a SV130T with Flattener and Vic needs this distance to build the spacer.
    Thank you!

I am considering this camera. Can you please confirm whether all dealers in the US have version 3 (V3) of this camera. I know you made some significant improvements in version 3. How do I know if it is version 3 and not the older version.

Question on the correct size to order – I am considering the ASI1600mono kit with the 36mm FW set (kit 3). My OTA is the EdgeHD 8″ with 0.7 focal reducer. This makes the scope 1422mm at f/7 – will the 36mm filter set work best? It says with the focal reducer that it provides 105mm of back focus, and I think your kit has the right spacing adapters? Thanks!

      :

the 36mm filer set works, you need some T2 extender to make it fit 105mm back focus, our adapter is not long enough

Is 36mm filter set mounted or one has to painstakingly install them inside the filter wheel? What about 1.25″ ones?

you need to install them yourself, very easy

I think you should sell the camera together with a AC power adapter. Otherwise it is very likely that some users to use cheap low quality power adapters which may damage the camera and ultimately blame the camera.

What about sending the package in a good pelican case (like some of competitors are already doing) than in a cardboard box. You may even include it as an additional option for a little additional payment.

this is because we want to keep the package as small as possible

I am not sure how to select a filter size for the 1600 kit. Is there a focal ratio limit that I should consider?

    Thanks,
    ian

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, 36mm won’t have vignetting problem with any scope or lens
31mm filters would have vignet if focal ratio is smaller than F2
1.25″ filters would have vignet if focal ratio is smaller than F5

    Hi Sam.

    Fix my question again.

Should I adjust the focus between 1.25″ LRGB filters and narrowband filters?

    0

    0
    • Sam Wen

      :

the thickness of 1.25″ LRGB and SHO filter both 1.9mm
so I think you don’t need for most of the filters
but you may need for Ha or Red because the wavelength is longer than other filters
