In the astronomic application field, Sony IMX183CLK-J (monochrome) and IMX183CQJ-J (color) sensors uses a very high sensitivity back-illuminated structure with high resolution 2.4 μm square unit pixel. The optical size is 1 inch.
Astrophotography Performance
The ASI183 cameras has a very large full well capacity(15000e) for such small pixel size, 1.6e read noise @ 30DB, and 12stops dynamic range @ Gain=0. The ASI183 cameras also utilize firmware features to minimize amplifier glow for maximum performance in astrophotography.

High Speed
Fast FPS can be used in solar and lunar imaging, as well as for live viewing/EAA.The high speed readout may also be used for real-time focusing, true lucky imaging of double stars and other small objects, planetary imaging of the major planets in the solar system, and much more.

High QE
Sony’s back-illuminated Exmor R technology, giving it excellent Deep Sky performance. ASI183 QE peak reaches a remarkable 84%. In Ha channel, QE is still over 60%.
Having high QE means more of the light that enters your telescope and reaches the sensor is actually used. With 84% peak Q.E. and no less than ~50% within the visible spectrum, the ASI183 will utilize a high percentage of the light that reaches it, improving your signal quality.

USB 3.0 Port & ST4 Port
USB 3.0 Port: Provide 5Gb bandwidth to make it possible for ASI183 to run at 19 fps (12bit, normal mode) or 19 fps (10bit, high speed mode) at full resolution(20.18Mega).
ST4 Port: Can be used connect with auto guide port of mount, for guiding.

Warranty and Return Policy

Hello, I’m experiencing weird blurriness on the red channel when imaging the planets. The blue channel comes out very sharp. The red channel appears as if shaken in one direction, or as if there were 2 or 3 copies of the image along that direction (like between 10 o’clock and 4 o’clock direction) but not in the direction perpendicular to that. So it doesn’t seem to be atmospheric effect (since the blue channel is sharp). Could it be an issue with the drivers or the camera itself? I’m connecting the camera directly to the laptop (no ASCOM). Thank you.

I have the 183 and want to use it for planetary imaging along with an ADC. Scope is Celestron CPC 8″, F/10. The sampling is good without Barlow, but the ADC may require a Barlow to work properly. How can I do? Should I use a 2x Barlow and 2×2 hardware binning? I’ll appreciate your advice! Thanks!

Following your advice, I have ordered the T2-1.25″ adapter only to find out that the camera comes with it. I have wasted $16. I should have checked the content of the camera before ordering, though.

Hi, I have a Meade 12″ SCT F10 telescope 3048mm. I am looking at getting this ASI183MM Pro kit but reading the questions you all say the pixels are to small for an F10 12″ SCT and in another you say it will be fine. I am interested in planetary imaging, especially Uranus, Neptune, the gas giants and I am looking for the best and to me the 183 is what I was aiming at. I want a cooled Mono CCD camera. I was also looking at getting the ZWO ASI1600MM Pro for both DSO and planetary. Suggestions? Thanks.

We recommend ASI120 mini series for guiding and 183 is also a good camera for planetary imaging(you may need a barlow) and some deep sky objects imaging.
