Product Description

All Pro cameras (with cooler) need to be connected to an external 11-14v power supply to image. 

Even when the cooler is not being used the power supply must be used for the camera to be recognized.

ASI2600MM Pro uses Sony’s latest back-illuminated IMX571 APS-C format native 16-bit ADC sensor. It’s one of the most anticipated astronomy cameras of 2021. Here is some of the reasons why:

Like the colour version, the ASI2600MM Pro also has a very light weight of just 700 grams.

APS-C Format:

This is a 26MP camera featuring a small pixel size of 3.76um yet also having the incredible ability of accommodating a large well depth of 50ke.

The sensor length and width are 23.5mm * 15.7mm. The diagonal is 28.3mm.

 

Native 16bit ADC:

As one of the few CMOS astronomy cameras with 16-bit ADC on the market, ASI2600MM Pro was conceived having in mind the optimal characteristics for astrophotography. This 16bit ADC is not a CCD 16bit ADC. It can really achieve a dynamic range output of 14 stop, which will significantly improve the image sharpness and contrast, and also create smoother and more natural contrast transitions (as well as colour gradients when using different types of filters).

IMX571 Backlit Sensor:

Sony’s back-illuminated CMOS image sensor improves the sensitivity and noise reduction – the key factors to enhancing image quality. It does this by radically realigning the fundamental pixel structure from front-illumination to back-illumination, while still retaining the advantages of CMOS image sensors such as low power consumption and high-speed operation.

With a conventional front-illumination structure, the metal wiring and transistors on the surface of the silicon substrate that form the sensor’s light-sensitive area (photo-diode), impede photon-gathering carried out by the on-chip lens. A back-illuminated structure minimizes the degradation of sensitivity to the optical angle response, while also increasing the amount of light that enters each pixel due to the lack of obstacles such as metal wiring and transistors. These components have been moved to the back-side of the silicon substrate.

 

Camera Performance:

The ASI2600MM Pro boasts excellent performance with a dynamic range of up to 14 stops. When the gain value is set to 100, the HCG high gain mode is turned on. We’re not saying it’s magic…but we’d like to think it is pretty close. With the HCG-mode turned on, the readout noise is greatly reduced, and the dynamic range is basically unchanged. To improve the data quality, it is recommended to set the gain to 0 or gain 100 during deep-sky imaging.

Zero Amp Glow:

Traditional CMOS sensors produce a weak infrared light source during operation quite often seen in the corner of uncalibrated images. It is the tell-tale signs of ‘amp glow’. As the ASI2600MM Pro uses zero amp glow circuitry, you won’t have to worry about amp glow even when using high gain, long exposure imaging.

Anti-Dew Heater:

There is a polyimide heater completely fitting the protective window in the ASI2600MM Pro camera. It can help avoid any potential annoying dew or icing issues depending on the environment in which you capture images.

The power of the heater is around 5W. You are free to turn it off anytime in your photography software if you want to save power.

QE Value:

According to the test results of Sony, the QE peak value of the ASI2600MM Pro is 91%.

 

Two-Stage TEC Cooling, Ultra-Low Dark Current:

Thanks to the two stage TEC cooling, ASI2600MM Pro can lower the CMOS sensor temperature to more than 35 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature, which can greatly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even during extended exposure times.

*The Delta T 35℃ is tested at 30℃ ambient temperature. It might get down when the cooling system is working for a long time. Also, as the ambient temperature falls, the Delta T would also decrease. 

The unique dark current suppression technology can further reduce dark current noise. At a cooling temperature of 0 °C, the dark current noise is only 0.0022e/s/pixel. This means a 300s exposure will only cause 0.7e dark current noise, which is less than the readout noise. While at a cooling temperature of -20 °, the dark current can even reduce to 0.00012e/s/pixel, which is completely negligible!

Please notice that the camera needs to be connected to an external 11-15v power supply to implement the cooling function. We recommend you use 12V@3A DC adapter (5.5*2.1mm, center pole positive) or lithium battery with 11-15V to power the camera. If you don’t have one, please click here to buy a 12V power adapter. USB3.0 & 512M DDR3 Memory:

The ASI2600MM Pro is equipped with a USB 3.0 transmission interface and a built-in 512MB DDR3 cache to ensure stable and secure data transmission.

ASI Cooled Cameras produced after August 2023 have changed their DDR3 buffer from 256MB to 512MB.

Warranty & Return

1. ZWO hereby declares that it will provide customers with a warranty period of 2 years for ZWO branded products (excluding APO), as per this policy. APO products will be covered by a 1-year free warranty service, starting from the day following the receipt of the product by the customer. For ASIAIR Plus users, the warranty period will commence from the day of device activation.

2. If a User encounters the following Dead on Arrival (DOA) and contacts ZWO within the corresponding time limit to issue the Product purchase invoice and relevant evidence, ZWO will provide door-to-door pick-up service and, as appropriate, after-sale replacement (or partial replacement), repair or return (or partial return) service for the following Products:
1) Product quality problem
Provided that a User detects a quality problem and contacts ZWO within 30 days after receipt of the Products, and ZWO support team confirms that the Products indeed have a quality problem or defect after their inspection, ZWO will provide free replacement service towards such Products;
2) Product transportation problem
Provided that a User finds obvious signs of bubbling, serious overstocking, or deformation on the outer package of the Products upon receipt of the Products, and provides ZWO with pictures of the outer package and proof of receipt within 3 days after receipt of such Products, ZWO support team will verify the actual shipper and determine the responsible party for such transportation problem. In the event that ZWO is the actual shipper, ZWO will be responsible for providing the relevant return or replacement service, however, if the Products are directly sold or transported to the User by an agent of ZWO, the agent will be responsible for providing the relevant return or replacement service.

3. If the Products are under the following circumstances, they are not within the scope of warranty service, ZWO may provide maintenance services to the Users:
1) The Warranty Period of the Products has expired; or
2) The Products are injected into liquid or affected by moisture or corrosion; or
3) The Products are damaged by an external force (such as the broken of the camera protection window glass, the deformation of the product shell, the broken of the USB port, etc.); or
4) Disassembling, repairing by a third party, refurbishment of the Products (such as downloading erroneous firmware) without the written authorization of ZWO; or
5) The product system is modified, or the maintenance notice is lost or changed; or
6) Product quality problem caused by installation not following the requirements or instructions for the Products; or
7) Physical damage or failure of the Products caused by the force majeure (such as strong vibration or extrusion such as flood, fire, earthquake, or thunder stroke); or
8)Damage caused by the improper User operation during the period of shooting or use, such as using without the equipment protection or direct shooting of the sun; or
9) No valid purchase invoice or warranty certificate; or
10) The Products are second-hand products.
Any quality problem with the accessories or other parts of the Products is not a condition for the return or change of the Products, and the User may solely request to replace the accessories with new ones, which shall be handled after verification by ZWO support team.
If the issue with your ZWO product was caused by certain damage (such as severe damage not covered by the 2-year warranty), you might have to pay the replacement value.

4. For the normal repair or replacement of the Products during the Warranty Period, the User will bear the return cost. When returning the Products, Users shall specify the actual reasons for the damage to the Products, and shall provide the corresponding valid certificates, such as pictures or videos, etc.
For the Products that need to be replaced after being confirmed by ZWO in writing, the User shall return the Products with the complete package, together with all accessories, manuals, etc., to the address designated by ZWO.
By sending back the product to ZWO, the User agrees to pay out-of-warranty fees that may arise during the repair process of the product. ZWO will send back the product after charging.

5. If a User encounters any problem during the use of ZWO Products, you may at any time contact ZWO for technical support via ZWO Support.

For the Products that need to be returned for after-sales service, ZWO will provide the corresponding RMA code for reference.
ZWO will not accept any products having no RMA code that have been returned privately without ZWO written confirmation.

6. If a User purchases the ZWO Products from a ZWO agent, the User may contact the ZWO agent directly for the relevant after-sales service.

    Does the astro image quality improve when attaching the EFW (36mm) directly to the ASI 2600MM Pro (screw filter wheel directly to camera) since the filter sits closer to the sensor? The reason I am asking is that this becomes very restrictive since I won’t be able to use the camera for any other setup, such as using ASI 2600MM Pro with a 2” filter drawer to attach to a camera(Nikon lens) lens.

    Bonjour,
    Je possède la 2600MM pro depuis 14 mois maintenant et j’ai toujours eu un problème avec.
    Lors des acquisitions il arrive 2 à 3 fois par soirée que l’image ne se charge pas et PRISM détecte une anomalie et ferme mon observatoire.
    J’ai mis en doute mon matériel et j’ai changé PC, cordons USB (3 fois et les plus court possible)),câbles d’alimentation, je n’ai plus utilisé mon boitier pégasus pendant un moment mais rien n’y fait. j’ai eu le défaut avec ASI studio, Nina et Prism.

    I love the ASI2600MM-Pro but recently I’ve run into a problem with downloading images using either TheSkyX Pro 64bit or NINA 64bit. If I do a loop of 4 second or less exposures using either the X2 or native driver, I get an image download failure. This does not happen using the ASCOM ZWO driver. And I have the bandwidth set to 40.

    Is there a know issue with the X2 and native drivers?

    je possède la 2600mm depuis mai 2021, avec RAF en 36 7f, et je possède aussi la 2600MC depuis juillet 2020 et je possédais la 294MC en juillet 2019, autant dire que je suis abonnée aux caméras zwo -:) La 2-ààmm est une superbe caméra avec un rendu excellent surtout en bruit de fond, elle gère bien mieux le fond de ciel que la 2600MC qui ne démérite pas. Avec l’expérience, j’utilise la 2600MC pour des galaxies simples sans trop de couleurs, et je réserve la 2600mm pour toutes les nébuleuses et les grandes galaxie comme M31 ou M33
    je recommande cette caméra

    Hello! I encountered a problem with this camera (2600MM-pro). I noticed severe elongated stars due to vibrations of the cooling fan. I tried another camera (2600MC-pro) that I have and it does not have the problem. I just realized it was from the cooling fan, because when I turned off the fan, the stars of the 2600MM-pro became perfectly round. Is there a solution to this?

      Please try to Adjust the 4 screws that fix the fan counterclockwise, keep the 4 feet of the fan on the same level.

    This is a 2-star rating on the 2600MM and 2600MC line of cameras due to the oil on the sensor. I find it hard to believe that ZWO finds it acceptable for users to periodically open up the chamber on this $2000 camera and run the risk of permanently damaging the sensor surface. Any other company with a product this expensive would void your warranty if you cracked it open. ZWO is directing its customers to open this camera to remedy a design flaw.

    Are the 2600 MM Pro (mono) and 294 MM Pro (mono ) USB 3.0 interfaces compatible with the latest USB 3.1 protocol? I don’t expect it to run at 3.1 transfer rates just need to know if there is any incompatibilities between USB 3.1 and 3.0.
