The correct distance between the back flange of a Canon EF lens and the imaging chip is 44 mm, and a UV/IR cut filter is mandatory for use of ASI cameras.

Given the flange-to-chip distance of 17.5 mm inside the ASI cameras, this adapter MUST be made (44 – 17.5 = ) 26.5 mm long and it MUST include threads for a filter.

Hopefully the next iteration of this accessory will actually adapt Canon EF lenses to work with ASI cameras!

This M54 adapter designed for full frame imagers. I am anticipating the ASI 6200. Every mm of clear aperture will count.

Better yet how about a version with internal M48 threads for screw-in filters and a shelf for 2″ unmounted filters plus threads for a retaining ring?

bought this – DISAPOINTED no way to add a LP filter! (2″)
searching around to buy an adapter as been a failure.

What is the adapter thread side (without the 54mm extension? I measure it at 59.8 or 60? but I’m unsure.

nothing gives that thread size. I want to adapt this to 48mm as short as possible to stay within 45mm from ASI094.

I ordered this recently to connect my 4,000 camera to a canon lens.
It came – IT DOESN’T WORK!

I bought ZWO brand because I knew it was their camera and has to work. VERY DISAPPOINTED SEAN!
it says 17.5 back spacing? (isn’t back spacing 55mm?) I looked here for instructions on how to set the train and no help? Attaching it I get 27mm from lens. 17.5 sensor depth in camera means I’m 10.5 short.
I can’t find a 54mm 10.5 extension tube anywhere? Also how do I use my IDAS 2″ filter?

Sean? really? you make and sell this for your cameras? Will you take it back? ITS WORTHLESS TO ME.

      Hi Ron,
55mm back focus is an example for most of reducers and flattners, for your Canon lens, you need to find the correct back focus and then arrange the back focus.

Hi, maybe you guys should be able to add in an internal m48 thread for screwing in the necessary 2inch uvir filter? Since this is needed for astrophotography with lenses? Otherwise this adapter is not very suitable for its intended purpose of astrophotography with the 094/128 Cmos Osc. Hope you guys can make this with the m48 internal thread asap! 😝
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I bought one of this for my ASI098MC, but I have no clue on how to attach an IR filter to it.
The filter is 2″, and I guess the camera needs an IR blocking filter, since we’re dealing with DSLR lenses. There must be a way, I hope..
