Dear Sirs, how precise must be the backfocus distanceset, to get correct star images? I use this adapter with Samyang 135 mm f/2.0 @ 2.8 with Canon bayonet and ASI 178 MC uncooled camera. The flange distance for Canon lens should be 44 mm, and the backfocus of ASI 178 MC uncooled is 12,5 mm – so I set the backfocus of the adapter to about 31,5 mm. But it’s almost impossible to set it to the exact distance – the rings are a little bit loose, and when locking the adapter with the locking ring the backfocus is slighty increased (About a fraction of a milimeter). With my caliper I got measurements between 31,49 to 31,56 mm from the same setting. I wouldn’t worry about it, but the brighter stars in my pictures look like small balls, and not like points. Can it be caused by slightly wrong backfocus distance?

The exactly backfocus of this adapter is 31.5mm. And it has the tolerance, which may cause the stars look like small balls.

How would you mount a setup with this on a dovetail? I saw someone with the same question and the answer was “you can mount the camera”, but I don’t see how I can mount the camera.
