Product Description

The new 36mm EFW (Electronic Filter Wheel) independently developed by ZWO for astronomical mono cameras. With the larger body and the newly-added screw holes on the covers, it will give a much easier and more fixable way to connect to ASI cameras.

There are 7 slots inside the EFW and we recommend you use the ZWO 36mm LRGB and SHO filter set with it.

01

The body is CNC milled from an aircraft graded aluminum block. It is made with high quality and thin with the thickness of only 20mm. The heart of the EFW uses the quality stepmotors produced by NPM, Japan, which can be very trustworthy. When photographing, you can rotate the EFW in both counter clockwise or clockwise direction for filter selection. The whole operation process is rather convenient and efficient.

06

Comparing to the original 36mm EFW, you may find the new EFW has a bigger size. The screw holes on the front and back covers shall not only allow us directly connecting the 36mm EFW to the camera and bringing the filters closer to the camera sensor, also making the it possible to match it with M68 OAG.

There are no need for multiple cables to power this filter wheel up, just one USB cable does the trick. The power consumption of this EFW is approximately 120mAh @5V, which can be operated from the Cooled CMOS’s USB hub.

01

All ZWO 36mm filters can be perfectly supported by this EFW. But if you use filters from third party, then please make sure the thickness of the filter should be between 1.5mm and 3.0mm (the thickness of the filter frame is 1.8mm).

Which type of 36mm filter can I use with this filter wheel? Mounted or Unmounted? if both compatible, which one is recommended?

    Hello,
I have the ZWO EFW (5 x 2″) which seems to have the same dimensions is there a kit that could allow us to go from the 5*2″ wheel to the 7*36mm wheel?

These two EFW are not compatible, you need to buy 7*36mm wheel separately.

I have read those documents numerous times before I even asked my question, but they do not answer either of my questions, again.

    1) Does BOTH the camera and OAG get bolted to the FW ( the instructions above only discuss the camera not the OAG.
2)Can you use the 294mm with the M68 OAG? I know you can’t bolt the camera is this case to the FW but will it work otherwise?

    Thanks.

    A couple of questions:

    1) Does the M68 OAG bolt onto the new 36mm FW and also bolt onto the camera on the other side, or does it use only a threaded/dovetail connection in connecting the OAG to FW?
    2) Can the M68 OAG/New 36mm FW combo work with the 294mm camera (with a 6mm spacer in front of camera)? I know it doesn’t need it but I’m looking for a set-up that can use both an APS-C camera and the 294mm with bolt-on options.

On feb9 you mentioned that you will be releasing a new 55mm solution with no oag that would allow the efw to be bolted directly to the 2600mm with the tilt plate removed.
Camera is on it’s way and I will be needing the solution soon.
    Thanks

    Hello
Is it possible to fix the tilt plate on this efw on the telescope side ? And therefore without having to acquire an OAG68?

Will this come with screws for new bolt-on connection? I will have the ASI2600MM but I don’t intend to use OAG. So I would bolt on the M42 tilt adapter from the camera to the telescope side of the EFW. New bolts would be needed for this. Then to get 55mm to my telescope flattener, I would add the 2mm T2-T2 adapter that comes with the EFW and the 16.5mm T2-M48 adapter that comes with the camera. This would actually be 56mm, but I have an adjustable flattener.

If these bolts are not included, can you tell me the thread and length needed?

    Thanks
