I have bought CH4 filter and asi 1600mm cooled camera. Can I use this filter on this camera to capture infrared signal from Helix Nebula using RASA 8 telescope or GSO RC8 telescope?

Sorry this filter can only capture the methane signal in the infrared signal, it can’t capture the whole infrared signal.

    1. Would I replace my Uv/ir cut filter with this filter or screw this filter in else where and leave the uv/ir cut filter alone?
    2. The job of this filter is to bring out more detail in the gas giant’s?

Hi, I just purchased the ASI290MC camera. It seems these latest versions of this camera do not have the IR cut filter, but instead have the AR window. Is this correct? If so, then can I use this CH-4 Methane filter for Jupiter/Saturn?

Also, if I wanted to use a light pollution filter as well, then do I need to do separate imaging with each of these two filters and then stack the results together to get the benefit of both?

    Thanks

Could this be used on a ASI290MC camera? Without the IR-cut filter I assume.

Hi, It is not good for color cameras, in infrared channel, sensitivity of color camera is too low.

Hi Sam. Would this CH-4 really be important for imaging Jupiter and Saturn? Should it be used along with your D-21 UV/Cut window as well on my ASI224mc? Or is the D-21 sufficient? I’m using a TeleVue Powermate 2.5 then your ADC, in front of your ASI224. Is that how you would place them? Where would you put the CH-4 with the 1.25 threads? The Powermate 2.5X doesn’t have filter threads!

      :

no, CH4 should work together with AR window
IRCUT will block CH4 filter, 224 is ok as it come with AR window
the thread of CH4 filter is M28.5X0.6

Took a chance, got one now.
I measured filter threads to 2,5mm, filter height without threads 5,0mm.
I see from the EFW/EFWmini product pages, requirements are “threads length shorter than 3mm, height without threads less than 7mm”. All right then.
Still, would like to know the GLASS THICKNESS. (harder to measure safely)

What’s the thickness of the glass?
    And height, threads/total?
That is, will it fit in EFW/EFWmini?
    Thanks.
