The body is CNC milled from an aircraft graded aluminum block.
We decided to make it thinner, where it measures only 20 mm on the wheel body.

cemian

The heart of our EFW comes from NPM, Japan, whose the manufactor for the stepmotor and the quality is trustful and reliable. Guaranteed long life.

We have two specifications:

TYPE1: 8 positions, 1.25″ or 31mm filter can be used.

TYPE2: 7 positions, 36mm filter can be used.

The Electronic Filter wheel can be rotated in both counter clockwise or clockwise direction for filter selection.

There are no need for multiple cables to power this wheel up, just one USB cable does the trick. The power consumption of this EFW is approximately 120mAh @ 5V, which can be operated from the Cooled CCD’s USB hub.

The distance between the filter and sensor is around 10mm when you connect it to ASI1600.

So 1.25″ filters won’t have vignetting up to F5 focal ratio scope and 31mm filter won’t have vignetting up to F2 lens.

Our new RGBL filters are recommended to work with ASI1600, it will offer nearly 1:1:1 RGB color balance.

    Hey Sam,

When you say ‘fast’ delivery, you really do mean FAST! I ordered the 8 position filter wheel and 31mm filters on July 11th and it arrived in Eastern Canada three days later … on the 13th! Amazing!

One thing … I notice the washers are a little bit different. Confused me for a second or two. :-) Also, not exactly sure if I have the right sides facing camera and scope correctly. The picture on the filter page doesn’t exactly help much. Is there something extra you could tell me. And does it really matter if I have them inserted the wrong way? Thanks!

Plus, it is only the 8 position wheel that can use screw in filters. The 7 position wheel can’t use them. Is that correct?

    Hi Sam,

I have the ASI183 MM Pro (Mono) and now I want to order a filter wheel and filters. I currently have Celestron 1100 Edge HD. Which would you recommend: the ZWO EFW 8 position with 31mm filters or the ZWO EFW 7 position with 36mm filters? Thanks.

    Clayton

    Hi Sean,
I looked at all the responses for my question, some are close.

I’m planning to use the 1600MM Pro MONO (17.7mm Diagonal chip size) with the ZWO 1.25 in. filters (26mm diameter clear). The math I’m using shows I need 19.54mm clear for my focal length for no vignetting. Can you verify this will be OK? Seems there would be plenty of filter aperature to spare…

    My scope specs are:
    FL=731
    f 4.8
Withe the Sensor Size of 17.7mm and a distance between sensor and filter ~10mm

    Thanks for your time!

Hi Dave. If 1600 work with our EFW, it can support 1.25″ filter without vignetting. camera can directly screw into EFW without 11mm ring.

I am interested in getting a set of Astrodon 36mm NB filters and I emailed Don Goldman to find out the filter size. He advised that his filters are 36.1mm diameter and 3mm thick. Will these be compatible with your filter wheel?

Hi bob. Our 36mm position diameter is 36.1mm. I think it is suitable, but never tested. Thickness is OK. Maybe you can ask this in cloudynight, somebody might do this before.

yes, there is T2 spacer come with 1600, so you can adjust this angle by using the thin spacers

    Thanks for the replies!

We are not intending to use it between telescope and a camera, but this will be the first device in the system, therefore we do not need the wheel cover for attaching anything, we only mount the EFW to the system. 😉
Thanks for the note about bright light, good to keep in mind if we have problems.
