Anti-dew heater strip

SKU: ZWO-Anti-dew Category:

Product Description

The anti-dew heater strip is used for anti-dew on the front window of the ASI cooled cameras.

This  kit includes the zip-tie, anti-dew heater strip , an Y power cord and two spacers:

The thickness of the anti-dew heater strip is 0.2~0.3mm.

The “Y” power cord is designed to connect in-line with the cooler power supply for convenience.

The thickness of the spacers is 0.3mm and 0.5mm. They are used for aligning the camera and EFW.

And we recommends 12V at 0.35A  DC adapter where the heating power on the strip is ~4.2 watts. You can use one and same power cord to power both the fan and heater simultanously, but make sure not to exceed recommended amount of Ampere.

How to use it?

  1. Tear out the protective film on adhesive tape
2. Put the anti-dew heater strip on the front facing of the camera and make sure the black cable is in the right position (lining next to the DC plug at the rear end)

3. Tie the black cable with a zip-tie on the camera body.Anti-dew-step4

4. Plug in the power cord, then everything is done.

Now you should be dew-free while shooting with the camera.

NOTICE: Be careful about welding portion, it is vulnerable can not holding very strong pull.

Before first usage of this product read manuals and install correct drivers and software.

    Hi Sam
Is the anti-dew heater necessary for the ASI 1600 cooled mono version 3, considering the new mechanical improvements?
    Thank you

    • Sam Wen

this depends on the humidity, I think 100% humidity still need the anti-dew heater

Sam – I don’t understand the purpose of the 2 spacers. Are they necessary if attaching to the ZWO EFW 8 filter wheel?

    • Sam Wen

      no, this is not necessary
you can use the spacer to adjust the direction of the sensor

You we put on the market a crude product.
    Then you issue completions. Paid.
What engineers receive the money for?

I power my camera with a 2amp 12volt power supply when on 110volt electric. Will this be too much for the dew heater to handle and burn it out…or is that OK? When in the field running off a 12 volt battery, I assume this won’t be an issue as the AMPs are lower.

    • Sam Wen

no, this heater only need 0.35A, the power supply just need to be higher than this

    Hi Sam
Could you explain a bit more about the power requiriments? You mention 12v 0.35A. If connected the cámara and the heater to the power source you selll (12v 5a) then you have 3a left. Would this damage the heater theb which only needs 0.35a?
    Thank you

    • Sam Wen

      no, it need only 0.35A
just make sure the power supply can provide enough current >0.35A

    Hi Sam
I have the 1600MM Cool and suffer from the dewing problem.
I have the Mini EFW attached but use no spacers. I have perfect focus.
If I use the dew heater, is this likely to effect my focus?
I certainly do not understand what the extra spacers are for.?

    • Sam Wen

the extra spacers are allowed to adjust the angle of the sensor
you don’t need it if you have perfect focus

  7. :

    Hello there,

Dumb question: Is this heater required for any of the newest cooled cameras (for example, 071MC-C ) or just for the 1600MC/MM-Cool?

    Many thanks, Diego

    • Sam Wen

this is just for 1600, but if you can use it if you have such problem with 071

  8. :

Hi, i would like to use it for a ZWO ASI 120 MC cooling project. Can I use it for this camera and is it possible to have the dimensions of inner and outer diameter of the heating element? Thanks in advance

  9. (verified owner):

Hello SAM, I have ordered 2 of them. Still processing since 11.14.2017. Is this normal ?

    • Sam Wen

we just have it instock and will send soon

  10. (verified owner):

Is there a manual for how to install the dew heater on the camera?

    • Sam Wen

it’s very easy, just paste it to the front cover

Ha ha, sorry! Found it now! :-)
