DDR Memory Buffer

DDR memory buffer is the main difference between ASI “Cool” and “Pro” cameras.

ASI1600 Pro camera includes a 256MB DDR3 memory buffer to help improve data transfer reliability. Additionally, the use of a memory buffer minimizes amp-glow, which is caused by the slow transfer speeds when the camera is used with a USB 2.0 port.

ASI1600 Pro offers very good performance for astrophotography. Low read noise, Low dark current, high dynamic range .

ASI1600 build in 12bit ADC but can provide 12.5 stops dynamic range which is even better than KAF8300 dew to its super low read noise.

Reliable Mechanical Structures

There are four screws that seal the sensor chamber. Our camera design has been extensively tested and is very stable.

Even when used in higher humidity environments, ASI1600 Pro will still works fine without dew problems.

USB 3.0 Port & USB2.0 HUB

USB 3.0 Port: Provides 5Gb bandwidth to make it possible for ASI1600 Pro to run at 14.7 fps (12bit, normal mode) or 19 fps (23bit, high speed mode) at full resolution (11.7Mega).
We recommend using a 12V/3-5A or more DC adapter for cooler power supply (2.1×5.5, center positive).
Using a battery with 9-15V is also suitable for the cooler power supply.
USB 2.0 HUB: Can connect with various accessories,  including a filter wheel, guide camera or electronic focuser, allowing you to manage your cables better. There are two short 0.5m USB2.0 cables included with the ASI1600 Pro. The hub is powered by the external power supply if you connect one.

Cooling System

ASI1600 Pro has 2 stage TEC cooling system to enable very deep cooling (40°C-45°C below ambient). The cooler requires an external power supply, which is not included with the camera. You may order a suitable power supply from here.

    One reason is distance between a sensor and filter is too close.
    Another one is a coating of filter .
    Then distance between a sensor and filter to be a little more far and try to improve a coating of filter .

      usually these reducer designed for DSLR whose back focus distance is 55mm
      so you need an extender to use it with our camera
      we already provide an 18.5mm M42 extender, so you just need another 20 or 19mm extender to reach 55mm distance

    I see a lot of deepsky images when I look for results for this camera. But I guess you are able to capture planets too with this camera as well.
    Is this camera really designed for deepsky imaging solely or can I also use it to image planets and the moon. Or is the chip too big for planetary imaging?

    I bought a ASI1600MC-cooled recently and I have not been able to use it with Sequence Generator Pro.
    There is a ASI ASCOM option in SGP’s camera selection.
    Error message comes up during focus and framing.
    I am told by SPG developer that the ASI ASCOM doesn’t work with ZWO cameras at present.
    Is there a fix soon?

      the easiest way should be screw one 1.25″ IR-CUT to inside of the T2-1.25″ filter adapter
      so 1.25″ filter should have no vegnetting for F5 system

    Just purchased a ZWO ASI1600MC, I own a Skywatcher 80mm PROED Refractor and a Skywatcher 250mm Reflector. Both with Moonlite focuser’s. I am new into astroimaging, I have an NEQ6 Pro mount. I know this CMOS camera has an AR window. I ordered an Explore Scientific CLS 2″ filter with the camera. Will this suffice for IR/UV for the Refractor?

    I am seriously considering the ASI1600MC-cool camera as my next camera. I have 5 imaging configurations using two scopes (Canon lens, ES ED127 + 0x field flattener, ES ED 127 with 0.7x field flattener, C11 + .66x reducer and C11). My focal ratios range from f/10 to f/5.25. I am currently imaging with a full spectrum Canon DSLR. If I get the Canon adapter can I achieve the same back focus as the DSLR and use all my current connectors? What do you recommend for IR cut and light pollution filters that will work with all these configurations?

    Also, I have seen background noise banding with my CMOS DSLR sensor (Canon T1i). This shows up as noise in bands in the dark of empty space especially near bright extended objects. It is very subtle and only really shows up with aggressive stretching. Is this problematic with all CMOS OSC sensors? Do you offer any sample linear data from this camera that can be worked to get a feel for the data quality from the camera?

      this adapter changed the ASI cameras to EOS EF mount
      the sensor of this cmos is very good, I didnot hear such band issue

    I’m looking for a good cooled OSC for my C11 Hyperstar-system. Most of the time i whant to take pictures of very faint nebulars. My astro-college gave me the advice to go for a good ccd with a 16bit adu to have a good dynamic range. The 1600 mc pro only has 12bit. Is there a big difference to a ccd with 16-bit adu?

      you can also consider ASI071 which has 14bit ADC and provide 14bit dynamic range

    Hi. I have purchased a ASI1600MC-C camera. I am using a formula to calculate target ADU.
    Formula is: targetADU = BIAS + 10*RN*RN/camera_gain

    RN is camera read noise = 1.5 e/rms @ gain of 139
    camera_gain = 1.0 electrons/ADU

    BIAS: This is the normal BIAS level the camera produces.

    I cannot find a value for BIAS in the specifications for the ASI1600.

    As an example a H694 camera has a bias of about 1100.

    The specifications for the ASI1600MC says that the ADC is 12 or 10 bit.
    When I use the STATISTICS tool in Pixinsight I set the tool for a 12 BIT ADC. This gives a maximum value of 2095 bits.

    On a forum recently I was told that the ADC of the ASI1600MC was 16 bits.

    What is the ADC output, 12 or 10 or 16 bits?
