  1. (verified owner):

When this camera is on sale does it come with a 1.25″ adapter and the 2.5mm lens? It’s not mentioned on this page.

    thanks

    Jonathan

    • Sam Wen

      :

yes, it come with the 1.25″ adapter and 2.1mm lens

  2. :

Can I attach ASI120MC to Nexstar 4SE? How it is done?

    • Sam Wen

      :

Just use the 1.25″ adapter and insert to the focuser

  3. :

Hi.. I am trying to image te night sky using the 2.1mm lens. But when the exposure is set to one second the image shows many red and blue pixels. And increase as the exposure does.. is this normal?.
    Thanks

    • Sam Wen

      :

this is hot pixels, hot noise will increase with exposure of time or temperature
that’s why we need cooled cameras

  4. :

    Previous question.
    Thanks for the reply
I can understand the hot noise pixels but these appear in the same position on various days and start to appear with speeds less than 1 second. Which makes the 2.1mm lens supplied with the camera actually un use able for any night time full sky photography. .

  5. :

I understand the pixel hot situation . However the pixels are always in the same place. And appear at settings less than a second. Which makes the 2.1mm lens un use able. For full dark sky photography.

    • Sam Wen

      :

hot pixels are fixed in position, so they are easy to remove with a dark frame

  6. :

I would also like to ask?. What speed would you expect these hot pixels to appear. As I have tested mg camera again and they actually appear with the settings of 390ms . Which is the range specified on firecapture to capture planets not deep space objects.

    • Sam Wen

      :

the hot pixels are visiable if you exposure longer than 100ms, you can use the “dark subtract” function to remove them
our directshow driver or FC all provide such function

  7. :

I have concluded that this camera is not as good as they say.. why is it shipped with a lens and also stated suitable for some dso photography. Video through the sky lense at night time is actually worthless . And if you expose for longer than 300th of a second you get hot pixels.. I had a wbcam that could actually shoot for much longer exposures with no pixels. All this talk of using dark frame to subtract doesn’t really help when your initial image can not be seen clearly enough without pixel obstructions to a accurately focus.

  8. :

I have a accident with my allsky lens, can I buy only the All sky len?

    • Sam Wen

      :

      yes, you can
      just contact us through email

  9. :

hi. is the removable 1.25 ” IR -cut window ? it’s dangerous? I can enter the ‘ ir -pass ?

    • Sam Wen

      :

you can remove it if you want

  10. :

Hi! When will you have in stock again?

    • Sam Wen

      :

      we have it instock now

  11. :

    Hi,
I’m new to astrophotography and wondering which camera to begin with. I usually use a Celestron CPC 800 and would mainly use the camera for planets with the option to take pictures of some DSO if possible. I came across the ASI120MC, the ASI178MC and the ASI224MC (I read that with the latter one I might need an additional IR filter?). Which camera would be a good entry into astrophotography with the CPC? Is there one I have not considered yet?
    Thank you and kind regards,
    Thomas

    • Sam Wen

      :

I think ASI224MC would be the most suitable one for you
178’s pixel size is too small for C8

  12. :

Is this camera compatible with Raspberry Pi running on Rasbian,Hope this could function as a normal webcam when attached or specific drivers needed?

    • Sam Wen

      :

our USB3.0 cameras are more compatible with arm-linux

  13. :

That means: “Customers from Russia need to provide the name of your company.”?
    I have no company.

    • Sam Wen

      :

our company: SuZhou ZWO CO,. LTD.

  14. :

Can I attach this camera directly to a Baader Hyperion eyepiece, the eyepiece has m42/,75 male threads.

    • Sam Wen

      :

      yes, you can

  15. :

    Hi Sam Wen,

What is the back focus of this camera (in mm)?
I mean the distance between the front surface of the sensor and the front face of the camera housing.

    Thanks in advance,
    Attila

    • Sam Wen

      :

      12.5mm from the T2 threads

  16. :

Sorry, Sam Wen, I could not find find this data in the specs of the website but could find it in the manual after downloading.
    So, question cancelled. :-)

    Attila

  17. :

    Dear Sam Wen!

The ASI120MC camera driver 100% supported Windows 10 64bit operating system?

  18. :

Hi, can you tell me the latest driver version for the asi120mc ? I found two different versions: “ZWO ASI Cameras driver Setup V2.0.1.3” and “ASI120MC_Setup_2.8.5.20”.

    Thank you.

    • Sam Wen

      :

      use the first one driver
that’s an all in one driver

  19. :

    Hi Sam
Is this camera sensitive enough to use as auto guider camera along with the ZWO off axis guider?
    Thank you

    • Sam Wen

      :

that’s depends on your main scope
anyway, a mono camera is suggested for guiding

    • Sam Wen

      :

you’d better choose the mono one for guiding
but color one works too except some area have very faint star

  20. :

I might be being stupid, but here goes. I took a couple of images of Jupiter but they seemed to come out black and white. Is this normal? and if so how do you add colour to the images?

    • Sam Wen

      :

which software did you use? maybe you capture in raw format and you can debayer in stacking software
you can capture in RGB24 format too

  21. :

It was with the Sharp Cap software. Also Is there a more detailed instruction guide on how to use the camera? As when I try to put the camera into where the eyepieces usually go the little screw prevents it from going all the way in unless I unscrew the lens and attach the 1.25inc thread it then fits perfectly fine but cannot pick up an image.

  22. :

Hi, do you sell an AR protect window for the newest asi120 version?

  23. :

Hello Sam, I never had this before. But now I always habe “Aufnahmefehler” when using my ASI 120MC. Tuning the USB down to 40 has no effect on the error. I use Firecapture 2.5 64 bit and your latest common ASI driver. Can you please help me.

    Regards Hans

    • Sean Wang

      :

Aufnahmefehler is not found in dictionary :) Could you explain for us. We are glad to help.

    • Sam Wen

      :

we will reply you in email

  24. :

    Hi Sam,
I installed the latest driver on my laptop for ASI120MC, but when i plug the camera to the laptop it didn’t work, i have only 2x USB3.0 working [my laptop is Dell Inspiron N5110 and has 3 USB ports, 1 of them i USB2.0 and it is not working on my laptop], so i use only USB3.0 to connect the camera and not working, i have another computer [desktop] and plug/connect it to USB3.0 it works fine, what’s wrong on my laptop?

Both computers the laptop and desktop running under Windows 10, i have no problem on Windows 7 of any computer, only this laptop, i formatted it and reinstalled Windows 10 for clean free issue, but still the camera connected didn’t work, i used SharpCap.

    Thanks!

    • Sam Wen

      :

this should be hardware compatible issue
you’b better use the PC which works with the camera
